IMofCNY is excited to introduce our new home training option for neurofeedback. In-office training has been an offering for a while here at IMofCNY with patients experiencing positive and long-lasting results. With an at-home option, we can now offer the same benefits to patients who don’t live locally, cannot physically make it into the office, or simply have busy schedules. This home unit provides actual neurofeedback with identical results to those seen in our in-office clinic.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, neurofeedback is a non-invasive, radiation-free way to improve (and sometimes correct) chronic neurological conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, brain injury, addiction, Lyme disease symptoms (especially brain fog), Autism, learning deficits, memory loss, and more! Neurofeedback works by realigning brainwaves to change timing and activation patterns in the brain, which results in better brain function, and can improve or even eliminate undesired symptoms.
The Neurofeedback process starts with a QEEG brain mapping, which is a simple non-invasive process that involves patients placing a swim-like cap on their head. Gel is placed into sensors located on specific points on the head to collect brain wave information that can later be interpreted to come up with a training protocol aimed at improving deficiencies that may have been found, or to alleviate patient-reported symptoms.
Once the in-office brain mapping is complete, we hold a session to go over the mapping results. During this session, we also teach the patient how to hook up the equipment and confidently run a training session from home. Patients will be expected to commit to 2-3 sessions per week, complete progress trackers, and participate in bi-weekly check-ins with one of our specialists to achieve the best results.
Our at-home option is an exciting new addition to our neurofeedback program offerings and we look forward to making neurofeedback and its benefits accessible to a wider range of patients! If at-home Neurofeedback feels like a good fit for you or you would like to hear more about it, please reach out to IMofCNY’s Neurofeedback Department at 315-741-5774.
